Pump Motor Supply & Installation in Bangladesh

Last updated:

Pump motor supply & installation in Bangladesh means selecting, supplying, installing and commissioning the right electric pump and motor for a duty such as water supply, fire fighting, drainage or irrigation. Veritas sizes the pump to your flow and head, supplies an efficient motor with a suitable starter panel, installs it and proves it on test.

A pump that is too small never meets demand; one that is too large wastes electricity, cycles on and off, and wears out early. Many pump failures in factories and buildings trace back to poor selection or careless installation rather than poor equipment: misalignment, inadequate suction conditions, the wrong starter or no protection against dry running.

Veritas Technologies Ltd supplies and installs electric pump motors as part of our supply and engineering services. We size the pump, supply motor and control panel, install it with the associated pipework and cabling, and commission it under load. Pumps are often part of larger projects, so we also work with our electrical installation team on the power supply and with our deep tube well service where the water source is a borehole.

What Applications Do We Supply Pump Motors For?

Electric pump sets are used wherever water or wastewater has to be moved. The table shows the pump types we commonly supply and where each fits best.

How Is a Pump Correctly Sized?

Sizing is the most important step. A pump is defined by its duty point: the flow it must deliver and the head it must develop at that flow.

Flow

Flow is set by demand: peak water use in a building, the process requirement in a factory, the irrigation area and crop need, or, for fire pumps, the demand of the sprinkler and hydrant design. Over-estimating flow is a common and expensive mistake.

Total head

Total head combines the static height the water is lifted, friction losses in pipes, fittings and valves, and any pressure needed at the outlet. For a borehole pump, the pumping water level found during the well's pump test is used, not the static level.

NPSH and suction conditions

For surface pumps, the net positive suction head available at site must exceed the pump's NPSH requirement with a margin. If it does not, the pump cavitates, losing performance and damaging the impeller. Suction pipe size, length, lift and water temperature all affect NPSH.

Which Motors and Starters Do We Supply?

We supply three-phase and single-phase induction motors matched to the pump's power at its duty point, with a margin for the full operating range. Where the client specifies energy efficiency, we offer motors in IE2 or IE3 efficiency classes as defined in IEC 60034-30-1. Enclosure and protection ratings are chosen for the location: indoor plant room, outdoor or submersible.

The starter is as important as the motor. Options include:

  • Direct-on-line (DOL) starters for smaller motors where the supply can accept full starting current.
  • Star-delta starters to reduce starting current on medium-sized motors.
  • Soft starters for smooth acceleration and deceleration, which also reduces water hammer in long pipelines.
  • Variable frequency drives (VFDs) for speed control, constant-pressure booster sets and energy saving where demand varies.

Panels include overload and short-circuit protection, phase failure and phase reversal protection, and, where needed, dry-run protection, level controls and pressure switches or transducers.

How Do We Install and Commission a Pump Set? Step by Step

  1. Site survey and collection of duty data: flow, head, source, existing pipework and power supply.
  2. Pump and motor selection, with performance curves and data sheets submitted for approval.
  3. Supply of pump, motor, starter or VFD panel, valves and accessories.
  4. Preparation of the plinth or base, or checking of the borehole and well head for submersible units.
  5. Installation and levelling, connection of suction and delivery pipework without strain on the pump flanges.
  6. Shaft alignment of coupled pumps and motors, checked again after pipework is connected.
  7. Power and control cabling, earthing and insulation resistance testing of the motor and cable.
  8. Commissioning: rotation check, run test, measurement of flow, pressure, current and vibration against the design duty.
  9. Handover with test records and operating instructions for your maintenance staff.

Fire Pumps: What Is Different?

Fire pumps must start and run when everything else has failed, so they are treated differently from service pumps. Fire pump installations in Bangladesh are commonly designed and tested to NFPA 20, which covers pump selection, drivers, controllers, power supply arrangements and acceptance testing. The pump set usually includes a jockey pump to hold system pressure and a diesel-driven or alternative-supply standby pump.

We coordinate with the fire protection designer so the pump's rated flow and pressure match the hydraulic calculation, and we support the acceptance test with the designer and the client.

Who Needs Pump Motor Supply & Installation?

  • Factories needing process water, cooling water, effluent transfer or fire pumps.
  • High-rise residential and commercial buildings needing booster sets and lift pumps to overhead tanks.
  • Housing projects, hospitals and institutions drawing water from deep tube wells.
  • Sites with basements, sumps or low-lying land that need drainage pumps.
  • Farms and landscaping projects needing irrigation pumps.
  • Owners replacing old, inefficient or repeatedly failing pumps.

What Do You Receive?

  • Pump selection sheet with duty point and performance curve.
  • Motor data sheet with rating and efficiency class.
  • Supplied and installed pump, motor and starter or VFD panel.
  • Alignment, insulation resistance and commissioning test records.
  • As-installed layout and wiring diagram of the control panel.
  • Operation and maintenance instructions and recommended spare parts list.

How Should Pumps Be Maintained?

Regular checks prevent most breakdowns: watch for changes in noise, vibration, running current and leakage; recheck alignment and bearings periodically; and test motor insulation resistance. Make sure standby power is available for critical pumps, for example through a correctly sized generator. We can provide periodic maintenance visits on request.

What Does Pump Motor Supply & Installation Cost in Bangladesh?

Prices depend on the pump type, flow and head, motor rating and efficiency class, starter or VFD panel, materials, pipework, civil works and site access. We prepare a quotation after confirming the duty, so you pay for a pump that fits the job rather than an oversized one.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you choose the right pump motor for a building or factory?

We start from the duty: the flow you need, the total head the pump must overcome (static lift plus pipe friction plus required pressure) and the suction conditions. The pump is chosen so its best efficiency point sits close to that duty, the motor is sized with a margin over the pump's power demand, and NPSH is checked to avoid cavitation.

What is the difference between IE2 and IE3 motors?

IE2 and IE3 are efficiency classes defined in IEC 60034-30-1. An IE3 (premium efficiency) motor loses less energy as heat than an IE2 (high efficiency) motor of the same rating. For pumps that run many hours a day, the lower running cost of IE3 often outweighs its higher purchase price over the motor's life.

Which starter should I use: DOL, star-delta, soft starter or VFD?

Direct-on-line suits small motors where the supply can take the starting current. Star-delta reduces starting current for medium motors. A soft starter gives a smooth, adjustable ramp and reduces water hammer. A VFD controls speed continuously, which saves energy where demand varies, as in booster sets. Supply capacity, motor size and duty decide the choice.

Do you supply and install fire pumps?

Yes. Fire pump sets normally include an electric main pump, a jockey pump to maintain pressure and often a diesel standby pump. Fire pump installations are commonly specified to NFPA 20, which covers the pumps, drivers, controllers and their installation and acceptance testing. We coordinate with the fire protection designer so the set matches the system demand.

Can you replace an old pump motor without changing the whole system?

Often, yes. We check the existing pipework, base, coupling and panel, measure the actual duty if possible, and select a motor or pump that fits the same footprint or needs only minor changes. Replacing an oversized or worn pump with a correctly sized, efficient one can also reduce electricity use.

What does pump motor supply & installation in Bangladesh cost?

Cost depends on pump type, flow and head, motor rating and efficiency class, starter or VFD panel, materials of construction, pipework and valves, civil works such as plinths or pits, and whether the job is new or a replacement. Send us your duty requirements or the existing nameplate details and we will send a quotation.

How often should pumps and motors be maintained?

A practical routine covers daily or weekly checks of noise, vibration, leakage and running current, periodic checks of alignment, bearings and seals, and insulation resistance testing of the motor. The manufacturer's manual sets the detailed intervals. Fire pumps also need regular test runs as required by the fire protection specification.
